User Setup & Configuration Guide
Follow these steps to set up ReelLock on your Android device.
Step 1: Install ReelLock
- Download the latest
ReelLock-v1.0.0.apkfrom the GitHub Releases page. - Open the downloaded file and confirm installation (allow installation from unknown sources if prompted).
Step 2: Grant System Permissions
Launch ReelLock from your launcher. You will see two permission configuration cards:
1. Enable Accessibility Service (Required)
- Tap Enable Accessibility Service in the ReelLock app dashboard.
- Android system settings will open. Navigate to Installed Apps or Downloaded Services.
- Select ReelLock and switch the toggle to ON.
- Confirm system warning dialogs.
[!NOTE] Accessibility Service permission is essential for ReelLock to detect when Instagram Reels views are launched.
2. Grant Overlay Permission (Required for Overlay Mode)
- If you plan to use Overlay Mode, tap Grant Overlay Permission.
- Switch the Allow display over other apps toggle to ON for ReelLock.
Step 3: Choose Your Blocking Action Mode
In the ReelLock control dashboard, select your preferred blocking behavior:

Step 4: Verification
Open Instagram and navigate to the Reels tab or tap a Reel in your feed. ReelLock will immediately intervene according to your chosen mode!
